Welcome
Letter from our Booster President
Dear Friends,
Welcome to another exciting year of MCHS Marching
Indian Band! My name is Teresa Owens and
I am the Band Booster President. I have been affiliated
with the MCHS Marching Band now for 4
years. My oldest daughter, Ashley, graduates this
year and has been part of the band program for 4
years. My youngest daughter, Portia, who graduates
in 2011, is also part of the band program and
has been since her 8th grade year.
We are fortunate to have some of the hardest working
directors and kids in all of Georgia! Whether
it is marching or concert season, this group cannot
hide their enthusiasm, commitment to excellence,
and desire to succeed. This past year has been an
amazing journey for our students. As parents, it
has been wonderful to be part of this award winning
season. I would like to thank each and every one
of you who took part in everything that has been
done this year. Without your help, we could not
have
reached the excellence that has been achieved!
The MCHS Band Boosters are the support group for
the band program. Our single most important
function is to provide the support (chaperones,
fund raising, equipment, trailer pullers, etc) necessary
for the band program to achieve its potential. We
are only as strong as our members. We encourage
you to join our Band Booster family! We meet in
the band room on the second Tuesday of each month
and meetings last for about one hour. Please make
every effort to attend and give us your input as
we
plan activities and make decisions. You will get
much needed information throughout the year. It
will
also give you the opportunity to see how the Band
Booster program works. You may find that you
would like to become an officer as well.
Parents who cannot attend Booster meetings can still
support the band in many ways. First, stay
informed about band events and fund raising efforts
by tuning into the band website at:
www.murraycountyband.org Everything parents need
to know can be found there! Second, feel free
to contact any of the Band Booster officers with
any questions, suggestion or ideas that you may
have
or if you would like to volunteer to help at an
event or with ongoing needs of the band. Third,
help the
Boosters network with family and friends who may
have special talents or connections to individuals
and companies that might support the band in a fund
raising event. The support we Boosters provide
takes a lot of planning and work, but its
also a lot of fun and it is very rewarding when
you see your
child on the Marching Field.
I encourage each and every band family to support
the Booster organization by becoming Booster
members and by getting involved in its activities
from the moment their child becomes a Marching Indian.
With all of us working together, there is no limit
on the success we can have.
In closing, we would like to say that regardless
of the capacity that you serve as a band parent,
from an active booster president to cheering in
the stands, that the choice to support your child
is
something you will not regret. If you are currently
not a member of your local booster organization
then we invite you to get involved. Please be assured
that they want and need your help. If you are
an active band parent/band booster, on behalf of
your child and all band members, we would like to
say thank you.
As always, parents thank you for sharing your band
student(s) with us. Band is a huge commitment
and we appreciate the sacrifices that are made to
make our program what it is. Welcome to the families
that are new to our band program. We look forward
to getting to know you.
Best regards,
Teresa Owens

MAILING LIST
|
In
an effort to reduce the cost of both paper and postage
and to better inform parents,
we will be sending all communications via e-mail.
A list of email addresses will be used to send out
news items, last minute changes, urgent needs, request
for feedback and newsletters. These methods provide
better and lower cost communications than sending
notes with students or mailing newsletters. Please
notify us if you will require paper communications.
