  • I was absolutely amazed at the performance last night! What an AWESOME job our kids did! I was certainly one proud Momma up in those stands! I wanted to share some of the comments that I heard in our section...People were awed by the size of our band. I heard crying, shouting, people all around us were raising their hand praising God during Amazing Grace (so much so, you would have thought it was a church service), gasping, comments like awesome and great. When we won 1st Place in Sweepstakes, someone behind us said "Well, you know, that Amazing Grace is what did it for them." I want to say "Thank you" to Mr. Weaver and all the instructors, staff, helpers, boosters and kids for all of your hard work and your dedication! What an amazing performance!

  • I was privileged to travel with the band as a chaperone. During and after the band's performance, I heard compliments from many members of the audience and from members of other bands. Our band was the only one to receive a standing ovation at the end of their performance! People were shouting themselves hoarse while tears freely flowed down their faces. All of our young men and women put their hearts into the performance, which made it truly awe-inspiring. When the first place award was presented, the band members who were in the stands immediately rushed out onto the field to participate in the well-earned glory and recognition of their achievement. I would like to thank Mr. Weaver and all of the staff, instructors, and parents who worked so hard to get our band to this point. Thanks also go to Sgt. Gainey and his JROTC cadets for their participation in the performance. But I mostly want to thank the band members for their hard work, dedication and determination to get to this level. I anxiously look forward to several more years as a band parent. YOU GUYS ROCK!!! Darryl Hayes 10-19-08
  • Saturday night was awesome, especially for our Seniors! It was the perfect topper to a wonderful four years. They were talking about this show and how to take it to the next level since the day Weaver announced the theme and songs. We were setting in front of some people from Trion and Gordon Lee, they were" WOWED" by our show. But the best commit anyone could of gave was from a lady that said right after the show was over with tears in her eyes..."Oh man they performed that show with such heart and pride, you can tell its about more than just a band class!" And she was right last night it was about their dedication, and pride they feel about representing their selves and their school! GO MARCHING INDIANS!! Deborah Hooker 10-19-08
  • I just wanted to say "Congratulations" and that I am so proud of all of you!! I wasn't able to be there with you this time but I had ALL of you in my heart and thoughts. It's been a long journey since band camp and some even started before then. You guys really mean a lot to me and I think all of you are "GREAT"!!!!!! Momma "D" 10-20-08
  • I was not able to be at Golden River, but I so look forward to attending next Saturday at JSU! From the first time I saw you perform on Senior Night, I knew that you all were bound for honors! Mr. Weaver, you and the other directors did do a wonderful job in selecting the music and designing the show, but the reason it’s such a glorious success is that this band carries such pride as individuals and as a team. You care about each other. You are tight and your bond shows. You work hard each week and each show gets better and better! You do have such heart and my own heart bursts at the first sound of the drum cadence and your proud salute as you enter the field. On Friday nights 25 years ago, marching on the same field with my parents in the stands, I never dreamed that I would one day be a band parent myself, looking down in proud expectation at the very same field. Now I know two kinds of pride: pride in being a part of something wonderfully, majestically bigger than myself and pride for a child who is a part of an even better band (sorry class of 83/84). Keep up the hard work and continue to give your all each time you step out on the field, whether in practice or in performance or in your daily life. You are an inspirational and extremely talented group of young men and women. Laura Ramsey Sparks 10-20-08
  • I was so proud of the band Saturday night. Four parents sitting behind me told me it was the BEST performance they had ever seen. My heart was swelling with pride for my daughter and the rest of the kids. This is Kimber's Senior year and she was blessed enough to get to accept the 1st place trophies for the majorettes. I laughed as she ran across the field and did a split leap because she was so excited. She has worked very hard for 4 years and was proud to receive the awards for her section. She was also sad and crying knowing it will all be over soon. I'm sure the rest of the Seniors feel the same way. GREAT JOB! I know things will be just as good at JSU. Jennifer Mauldin 10-20-08
  • Wow! Words cannot express just how proud I am of everyone. Proud, but not surprised. Saturday's performance was not a miracle or some random stoke of good luck, but rather the culmination of hundreds of hours of hard work, dedication, and love for music and each other. It's been such a joy for me to watch the band grow and prosper since I first marched. The students and staff have continually gone above and beyond to elevate this program to new heights. I'm proud to have been a part of it! All of last week I was being asked by Mr. Gillespie and Mr. Stovall (Assistant Directors of the Marching Southerners) "Murray County's still coming to Jacksonville right?" "We keep hearing great things, we're really excited to see them". That's amazing! All of you are part of something bigger now than it's ever been, and you've touched hearts and lives whether you know it or not. I can't wait to see you all next Saturday. Whup North Cobb, and BLOW INDIANS! Matt Weaver 20-J, class of 2006 10-20-08
  • I just want to say that I am very proud of all of our kids for the great performance Saturday night at the festival. The crowd loved it! People just kept talking about the performance after it was finished. You all have worked very hard this year and it paid off.
    Congratulations! Sherri Keener 10-20-08
  • Second and third to nothing!! The Marching Indian drum line is awesome. GREAT JOB guys and gals!! Congrats to the whole band, this year’s show is truly an inspiration. Keep up the good work and knock ‘em dead at JSU!! Chris Brown’s VERY Proud Mom 10-23-08
  • It was after our band had played and returned to the stands to view the rest of the performance. I had sat next to a women who asked if I had gotten a chance to see the MCHS band play. She started bragging on thier amazing performance and she then mentioned that while her sons band were playing ( purple & white uniforms) there were kids cheering and supporting her band and later realized that they were MCHS band members, some still in uniforms... She said how impressed she was by how polite and positive this group of cheerers were....She then turned to me and asked, " What band or you here with supporting?" I was so proud to smile and answer..THE MURRAY COUNTY MARCHING INDIANS!! Kelly 10-23-08
  • Just wanted to let you all know that we got more compliments on the band Sunday night. We were eating at Little Rome and as we were leaving there were 2 couples there that knew us and knew that Lauren was in the band. They had seen the show and went on and on about how wonderful it was and that everyone done such a great job. Also at the game Friday night I was on my way to the buses and a lady from the other team stopped me and said how much she enjoyed our band and that it was a terrific show. I thanked her and said that they work really hard and we are very proud of all of them and she said we should be. Delaine 11-05-08
