game or be sent home at the director's discretion.
- You
will be expected to remain in the area designated for
your section. Only band members in full uniform will
be allowed to sit in the band area.
- All
Percussionists will stay by their respective instruments
at all times, ready to play.
- All
members should be alert to what is going on down front.
Instructions are given from the front of the band by
drum major(s) and director(s).
- You
must be in full, proper uniform at all times unless
otherwise instructed by the director. Do not walk around
with only a part of the uniform on or with collar unhooked

Buses
Our normal method of operation is for band students to ride
the bus to and from events. Sometimes, however, it is more
convenient for parents to pick up their children at an event
when it is over. These guidelines will be followed regarding
parental pick-up of band students from events:
|
- Students
are to remain with the band until the event is over
and students have been sent back to the buses.
- Students
may only be picked up by an adult (21 years of age or
older) who has parental relationship to the child. This
includes parents, grandparents, foster parents, legal
guardians, and adult aunts or uncles. Students cannot
be released to siblings or cousins.
- If
a student is leaving an event with an adult other than
his orher parent/guardian, Mr. Weaver or another instructor
must have personal contact (phone call or meeting) with
the parent/guardian of that student. (This applies to
situations such as one student going home with another.)
- Students
will not be released to anyone under the age
of 21.
- Students
who wish to be picked up should give their note to Mr.
Weaver a day before the trip so that a note can be addedto
the bus list for each bus monitor.
- One
of the instructors must see the parent and student leave
together.
- Special
considerations may be made as necessary in the event
of family or medical emergency stituations.
|
|
Failure
to follow these guidelines will result in disciplinary action,
which may include, but is not limited to, assigning laps,
push-ups and/or extra duties.
Actually leaving with an unauthorized person will result
in a suspension of 1 game and loss of letter for the first
offense. A second offense will result in removal from the
band program and in or out of schoo suspension at the discretion
of the principal.
|
|
Other
Rules:
|
- Boys
and girls will not site in the same seats on the bus.
- Students
are not allowed to bring food or drink on the bus.
- Students
are expected to keep their seat and the area around
their seat clean.Chaperones and bus monitors will check
the bus at the end of each trip. Any student who leaves
a mess will lose his 3rd quarter break privileges for
the first offense. Subsequent offences are grounds for
suspension from performance for a game or removal from
the band program.
- Personal
CS/tape/MP3 players are allowed only with the use of
headphones.
- Keep
singing and conversations at a discrete level. If someone
can hear you from the front of the bus, you are too
loud.
- Do
not let any part of your body hang out the window of
the bus.
- Do
not communicate with drivers or passengers of other
vehicles.
- In
heavy traffic conditions, lower your volume further.
- All
riders are to be silent when crossing railroad tracks.
- After
each trip, remember to thank the bus driver and chaperones.
|
|
If
there are problems with a student on the bus or at the away
game, that student will not attend the next away game and
will have to sit behind the band director on the bus for
the remainder of the year. Chaperones are to be obeyed and
treated with respect at all times.
|
|
OVERNIGHT
LODGING
If an event involves overnight accomodations at a hotel
or motel, the following rules will apply:
|
- Use
common sense and courtesy.
- Do
not run, shout or disturb other guests.
- Obey
chaperones.
- Use
the phones for room-to-room calls only. Use pay phones
or cell phones for long distance calls.
- Swimming
will be allowed during designated periods only.
- Students
are not allowed to leave the immediate housing area
without the director's permission.
- No
boys in girls' rooms or girls in boys' rooms. No exceptions
will be made.
- Keep
room noise to a minimum.
- Do
not fraternize with strangers.
- For
personal safety, always travel in groups.
|
|
Room
check rules:
|
- All
students must be in their correct rooms at the designated
time. This will usually be 30 minutes after arrival
at the hotel or motel.
- Do
not open doors or windows until visual indentification
is made. Opening a door after room check for anyone
other than an instructor or chaperone will be considered
the same as being out of the room after curfew.
- No
one is allowed out of their room after room check. This
is grounds for being sent home at your parent's expense
and not being allowed to go on other trips with the
band.
- Any
illness or other problem occuring during the night should
be reported by phone to a staff member.
|
|
RESTAURANTS
When the band eats as a group in a restaurant, we need
to keep our noise level down and we need to be sensitive
to other guests. We do not go and play on the playground
at restaurants which are so equipped.
|
|
LETTERING
A band student may earn a letter in band by attending all
events in a given year. Being absent from any band performance
will cause a student to not letter for that year. In order
to letter, a student must participate in band both semesters.
Guard members must participate in tryout camp in order to
letter even if they are not coming back for the following
year.
|
|
