My
journey with the MCHS band began as a lowly eight grade
student in 1988. Getting a chance to march with this band
changed my life. I gained a passion for music through
the wonderful experiences and great instuction, which
I would love to pass on to the students I come in contact
with now. I attended Georgia Southern University where
I received my undergraduate degree in music education.
I'm a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music
fraternity, as well as Georgia Music Educators Association.
During college I became a band camp instructor which later
evolved to being a full time staff member in 2005. I am
currently teaching music at Chatsworth Elementary School.
I
am married to Chad Stafford, and we have 2 beautiful
daughters, Abby and Kara.

I
began playing percussion under the direction of
Billy Davis at Murray County Junior High School in 1984.
In 1986, I became a member of the marching Indian Band
under the direction of Lewie Humphrey, whom I owe a big
"Thank you" to for his inspiration and persistence
in making be do my best. I would like to also thank Richard
Hooper, my high school instructor. He not only made me
a better musician, but also, a better person. In
1991, I became the instructor of the Murray County High
School Drumline. During that time, we strived to lay and
build a foundation of excellence and dedication.
Over the last 12 years, we have seen several drumlines
go through a lot of "ups and downs,"
but in the end we accomplished a great deal of success.
1990-1992 I was a member of the Jacksonville Marching
Southerners. After
a 2 year absence, Craig Cochran took over as instructor
and from 2005-2008. He took the drumline to new heights
with many achievements. For that, Craig, many people,
including myself, are very grateful.
Any accomplishments that we obtain this year
and in the future, are because you continued to build
onto the foundation of excellence and dedication that
was laid over 17 years ago. God
Bless!
