Committee
Responsibilities
INTERESTED IN HAVING A GOOD
TIME? MEETING NEW PEOPLE? THEN VOLUNTEER!
Each year we must say good bye to seniors and their
parents.
At the same time, we would like to offer an opportunity
to new members to also serve and become involved.
Please read through the descriptions below and find
your niche.
Remember! The strength of our Organization depends
upon each
individual to willingly give of his time and support.

CHAPERONES
The chaperones manage and supervise students during
football games and competitions. The chaperone coordinator
will organize the staffing of each event. Helps
insure the safety and comfort of the band during
football games, competitions, and other special
events. Includes distributing drinks, dispensing
hat plumes, protecting property and riding the buses.
CHUCK WAGON
The chuck wagon committee provides meals for students
and staff during band camp week and at
mini-camp days during the marching season. They
plan, prepare, purchase, set up, and serve meals
on campus. The committee also helps organize and
prepare, if necessary, snacks or light meals for
the band while away from campus.
COLORGUARD
The committee supports the activities of the Color
Guard. They will assist the Color Guard in coordinating
the needs of the guard for uniforms, flags and accessories.
In addition, the committee will
coordinate volunteers to attend performances in
support of the guard with uniform and flag mending,
general first aid and staff support.
CONCESSIONS
Volunteers are needed to work both concession stands
during home football games.
FIRST AID
The coordinator arranges first aid support, along
with appropriate first aid supplies, for all band
functions, including band camp. The first aid coordinator
is responsible for maintaining the medical
release forms which are required before any student
can participate in band activities.
HOSPITALITY
The hospitality committee is responsible for coordinating
the hospitality and refreshments throughout
the year at certain band functions and concerts
as established by the Director and Booster Board.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Take pictures of band events and/or video high school
marching band during half-time.
PIT CREW
The pit crew assists the students in loading and
unloading the trailers. The pit crew manages the
manual transportation of the stationary percussion
instruments and other equipment used along the
sideline(s), major stands and any props during football
games and competitions. The pit crew coordinator
will organize volunteers to serve on the committee.
This is a weekly commitment .
TELEPHONE
Make phone calls to parents concerning important
information or events. Example: buses will be late
returning. Being the point of contact and phone
tree contact person for their designated section
to help
distribute vital information as all parents do not
have e-mail or access to the Band website.
TRUCK CREW
The truck crew coordinator schedules the rental
of a truck to transport the MCHS Band trailer
(instruments and props) for away football games
and competitions. In addition, the coordinator will
work closely with the Band Director to ensure that
a county approved driver has been scheduled to drive
the truck.
UNIFORMS
The uniform committee organizes the distribution,
fitting and repair of bands marching uniforms
and
tuxedos. They are responsible for working closely
with the Director to maintain the general appearance
of the BHS bands and ensembles. The committee is
also responsible for the collection of the marching
uniforms and tuxedos at the end of each year. Marching
uniforms and tuxedos are provided and funded
through your students fair share account and
must be professionally cleaned before each competition
and upon being returned at the end of the year.
WAYS AND MEANS
Helps organize booster fund raisers and helps with
student fund raisers.
WINTER GUARD
They will assist the Winter Guard by coordinating
the needs of the guard for uniforms, flags and
accessories. In addition, the committee will coordinate
volunteers to attend performances in support of
the guard with uniform and flag mending, general
first aid and staff support.

use your help.

ELECTRONIC
MAILING LIST
|
In
an effort to reduce the cost of both paper and postage
and to better inform parents,
we will be sending all communications via e-mail.
A list of email addresses will be used to send out
news items, last minute changes, urgent needs, request
for feedback and newsletters. These methods provide
better and lower cost communications than sending
notes with students or mailing newsletters. Please
notify us if you will require paper communications.
