OCTOBER 2008
JSU Contest of Champions Festival
The Marching Indians traveled to Jacksonville, Alabama this
past Saturday to participate in the inaugural Contest of
Champions hosted by the Marching Southerners (the marching
band of Jacksonville State University). The award winning
Marching Indians once again displayed their talent by turning
in a fine performance in the preliminary round of the contest.
The MCHS students earned superior ratings for
the drum majors, percussion, and majorettes, earned an excellent
rating for colorguard, and earned a superior
for the overall band score. The Marching Indians placed
1st in class AAA in the category of drum majors, 2nd for
majorettes, and 2nd in class for overall band. From a field
of 25 outstanding bands from Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee,
the Marching Indians placed 6th overall, earning them one
of the 12 spots in the final round. In an electrifying late
night performance, the Marching Indians moved past Woodstock
to finish in 5th place in the final round.

"Finally,
brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and
if anything worthy of praise,
dwell on these things." -Paul of Tarsus
