Attendance:
All rehearsals are required. An unexcused absence to an after-school rehearsal will cause a student to be sidelined for that week’s performance. Any additional unexcused absences will be grounds for loss of position and/or removal from the band. An excused absence from a Monday or Tuesday rehearsal can be made up by attending two hours of the supervised practice time which will be provided from 6:00 to 7:00 on Monday and Tuesday, and from 3:45 to 5:45 on Wednesday. Any excused absences must be made up before the student can perform on Friday. An absence from a Thursday rehearsal will cause that student to be sidelined for that Friday’s performance. Absence from a Saturday morning rehearsal before a festival or competition will cause that student to miss that Festival or Competition. This is because the student was not present to learn the last minute changes for the upcoming performance. Absences may only be excused for illness, death in the family, or court appearance. Excuses must be presented in writing to Mr. Weaver or another staff member and must include a parent’s signature.
