2008 Marching Indians Halftime Show To Be Amazing
The 2008 Marching Indians production, entitled American Spirit: Courage, Devotion, Celebration, will spotlight important works by American popular composers. These spirited selections have stood the test of time and will provide the Marching Indians with bold, aggressive, and exciting musical material which will allow the band to put on the type of show our fans have grown to love and expect when the Indians take the field! Morton Gould's American Salute, based on the tune "When Johnny Comes Marching Home," will serve as the introduction for the program and will set the tone for the rest of the show. Powerful fanfares, kaleidoscopic shifts of mood and timbre, dazzling displays of flags, rifles, and batons, and impressive drill work delight and amaze audiences in this powerful opener. Expect strong visual statements by the Color Guard and Majorettes early on in the tour de force of music and motion.

Following the musical fireworks of the opener, prepare to be amazed as MCHS's most talented young musicians bring you a new setting of the timeless and inspirational hymn "Amazing Grace" as only the Marching Indians can deliver. This song, which was first published in its recognizable form in William Walker's 1835 shape-note tunebook, Southern Harmony, will be brought to life with beautiful props and exquisite choreography by the auxiliary line and the thrilling arrangement will send chills up and down the spines of audiences across the south.

The Andrew Sisters had a huge hit during World War II with Don Raye and Hughie Price's "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B." Our celebration of pride and patriotism will create some of the most exciting half-time moments ever as the Marching Indians swing and wail to this big band classic. Hold on to your seats as we showcase the incredible talents of the famous percussion section and experience the raw power and excitement as the Marching Indians drive this piece to its pulse-pounding conclusion.

Prepare to be amazed!
